Jackson Hole - Jackson Lodge

When planning for our visit to the area, I was too late to get a reservation at the Jackson Lake Lodge.... since I was not looking for a cabin or camping, I used Trip Advisor to help locate what I hoped would be a good hotel in the town..... the one we chose, Jackson Lodge, was not within walking distance of the town square, as some hotels are.... but we really enjoyed our stay there.

 We took a ride to the area that would be used for skiing for the locals and for visitors if it were winter.... it provided some great views......

This trip happened BEFORE I knew how to post on a blog.... 2011 to be specific..... this is NOT a day by day commentary as are some of my other travel blogs..... mostly I wanted to save the photos from this wonderful trip in a format that reminds me where, exactly, I took them!

One late afternoon we drove out this road, Gros Ventre River Road... while it was beautiful, it was very desolate and it was starting to get dark.... we enjoyed the scenery and some wildlife, but never really saw any other people.....

Snake River Float Trip

The scenery along the float trip was exquisite.... the ride was fun and we always felt safe.

There is a difference in taking a float with a company that HAS a license to float in the Snake River that is PART of the National Park, and one that is not.... we enjoyed our trip, but we were much further from the mountains because ours was NOT licensed to float in the park....If you research your ride you can find one that travels on the Snake River but does go in the area that is part of GTNP.

We had a reservation for 2 nights at the Old Faithful Inn..... great to be so close to Old Faithful itself.... but there are other choices in Yellowstone if "quaint" is not what you are looking for....
